Metalworks Studio producing The Kings Highway Driving Tour Audio CD

May 18, 2006, For Immediate Release

Oakville, Burlington & Mississauga... The Canadian Golf Hall of Fame & Museum, Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate, Museums of Burlington-Joseph Brant museum & Ireland house at Oakridge Farm and the Museums of Mississauga-Bradley Museum and Benares Historic House have collaborated on an exciting museum partnership called The Kings Highway Tour.

The Kings Highway Tour is an audio CD highlighting many of the different forms of heritage found along Lakeshore Road, formerly known as The Kings Highway. It will be of interest to tourists and residents alike, whether they drive, cycle, jog or even walk the route.

Barbara Teatero, Director for the Museums of Burlington notes, "As we celebrate 'May is Museum Month', this is a perfect occasion to address and update everyone on the progress of this exciting museums partnership!"

Metalworks Studio of Mississauga is doing the production of the audio CD under the direction of Paul Gross, Manager-Mastering & DVD Services and Karen Hewson, Director of the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and Museum.  Hewson, who has authored The Kings Highway script reflects, "Our team has worked very hard on this project and we are grateful for the input received from the heritage organizations in the area to ensure that this CD accurately reflects the heritage of The Kings Highway." The Tour  features radio personality Marlene Oliver as the key narrator, but it has also incorporated voices from the local community including Burlington City Councillor Joan Lougheed, and the Mayors of Oakville and Mississauga - Ann Mulvale and Hazel McCallion. Each were keen to read a passage.

Metalworks Studios is the gold standard for music production in Canada. A full-service audio-video production house that facilitates all aspects of CD & DVD projects, Metalworks has also been recognized as "Studio of the Year" from 1998 to 2005 by the Canadian Music Industry Awards.  Their passion for excellence is certainly reflected by the scores of artists and organizations that they have worked with, including Tom Cochrane, Anne Murray and Tina Turner.

Gil Moore, owner of Metalworks Studios and former drummer from Triumph has also been actively involved with this project. "I loved the concept of the project, and it's a natural for Metalworks. We love music, people, and this is a cool way to educate everyone about our heritage and encourage people to visit these heritage sites."

Scott Gillies, Marketing Coordinator for the Museums of Mississauga and Suzy Godefroy, Marketing & Development Facilitator for Oakville Museum are working on the promotion and launch of this project. All four partners are eager to get this CD out into the hands of the public as it will continue to educate and inspire people, not only about the engaging museums, but also the other fascinating heritage sites to be explored in Burlington, Oakville & Mississauga.

The Kings Highway Tour would not be possible without the support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, Metroland Papers, AM 740, CHTV, Greenlight Graphics and the Burlington, Oakville & Mississauga Tourism Marketing Organizations.
