A visit to the museum consists of a guided tour of the Erchless Estate, the Chisholm family home, which is restored to the 1920's.

Old Post Office - Temporarily Closed - Summer 2009 The Old Post Office was moved to Lakeside Park in 1953 by the newly formed Oakville Historical Society, and housed the Town's first Historical Society Museum.  We can thank those early museum volunteers for saving the old building from demolition.  Unfortunately, the building was not put on a permanent foundation, and over the years, this has caused strain on the structure.  Over the course of this summer the building will be lifted off its footing, a new foundation will be constructed, and the beams supporting the floor will be reinforced, making the building safe for our visitors, and ensuring its continued preservation
